It seemed to be the case fairly often lately, and today was no exception, that Wesley found himself with the unenviable task of changing the baby while the others socialized in a different room. It wasn't that he resented this position -- after all, he supposed he had to admit that of the entire Angel Investigations team, he was the one most equipped to change Connor efficiently and with a minimum of singing (Lorne), whining (Cordelia) or attempting to complicate the matter by using pins (Angel). Still, he didn't exactly love it when he found himself stuck in one room, overhearing the others elsewhere in the hotel but unable to fully join into the conversation.

"Morning, friends and neighbors!" Gunn greeted Angel, Cordelia and -- theoretically -- Wesley as he stepped into the lobby with Fred at his side. "Ooh, are those the tickets? You got 'em?"

Wesley, stuck behind the counter, craned his neck to see who Gunn was talking to on the other side of the lobby. Angel, it looked like.

"Well," Angel said, "I got to the ticket place and..."

"Mahta Hari is the tightest band in LA," Gunn interrupted him for the benefit of Fred and Cordelia. "You guys are going to be trippin' out."

Instinctively, Wesley scowled. He didn't know why, but even the name of the band didn't hold tremendous appeal to him, though he supposed that could have something to do with... some external factor or other.

"The only thing is," Angel interrupted, but he was cut off by Gunn.

"Hey, I said I'm good for it, man," Gunn said. "Don't have to worry about dippin' in the Connor college fund. The time I saw the Mahta Hari at the Troubadour, they were the--" there was the noise of paper rustling-- "Blinnikov World Ballet Tour." He paused. "What's going on?"

"I was trying to tell you!" Angel said, sounding uncharacteristically eager. "I got to the ticket place and boom! Thursday night only!"

"But... you got ballet on my Mahta Hari tickets," Gunn said.

"This is the Blinnikov World Ballet Tour," Angel insisted. "This is one of the premiere companies in the world! And they're doing Giselle! It's their signature piece!"

"I think I've heard of them," Wesley piped up -- not, he supposed, like anyone was really listening. "Very ahead of their time."

Personally, Wesley didn't mind the change of plans -- he wasn't much of a concert-goer himself, and while he hadn't had a whole lot of time for excursions to the ballet in the past, it certainly sounded nice. And... romantic, even. Especially on Valentine's Day. Perhaps he could even sit with Fred...

"I saw their production of Giselle in 1890," Angel shared, still in that bizarrely eager voice. "I cried like a baby. And I was evil!"

"I think it sounds exciting!" Fred piped up.

"No," Gunn cut her off. "No! This is not Mahta Hari. This is tutus, and guys with their big-ass packages jumping up and down. This is just... ugh."

"Oh, get over it," Cordy huffed. Then to Angel, "Do we get to get dressed up?"

"Of course," said Angel, prompting Cordy to clap her hands excitedly.

Still apparently traumatized by this betrayal, Gunn set his head in his hands. "I can't bring Javon and Ricky to this," he complained. "They're gonna think I'm some weird guy who watches this kind of thing when he's not under duress."

Finally closing up Connor's diaper, Wesley was struck by an idea, and hoisted the baby into his arms as he made his way back into the main room. "Oh, are there extra tickets?" he wondered, handing Connor off to Angel. "I suppose that I could find a couple of takers for them."

"They gonna judge me for this?" Gunn demanded.

"Absolutely not," Wesley promised. "Just some school mates of mine. I think they'll quite like the performance."

Gunn shrugged. "Then bring 'em," he said. "Long as Angel's paying for this nightmare, I don't care who fills the seats."

"That's the spirit," Fred applauded him.
