Wesley was... well, he had his nose buried in a legal pad as he jotted things down with unhealthy attentiveness regarding Katniss' participation in the Games. The lingering sense of something weird being in the room was there, as usual, because his roommate was around somewhere, though due to the timing, he'd come to regard that as associated with the whole Games thing. At some point after crossing out "Send ammunition" and rewriting it in the margins, he noticed that feeling start to subside somewhat, and he glanced up... to find a Labrador puppy sitting on Alex's bed.

Well, then.

Back to the list. Although after glancing up once more, he did make certain to add "Buy dog food." This was something he'd learned from his last roommate.

Alex yipped at Wesley. Man, he really wished he had something to chew on. Like a shoe. A shoe would be really good.

He gave Wesley a soulful gaze and yipped again.

Well, he certainly wasn't unnerving as a puppy, that was for sure. Actually, he was fairly adorable.

Regretfully, Wesley set down his legal pad for just a second, charmed by those big eyes. (That was a weird thought to have about his roommate. Ick.) With a sigh, he leaned over and reached into his dresser drawer, then fished out a ball that he'd bought for Cally's dog back in his old room. It was a little chewed up, but hey, it was a ball. So he tossed it.

Oh boy oh boy! Ball! Alex leaped off the bed and chased after it, capturing and subduing that rascally ball before trotting back over to Wesley with it in his mouth and dropping it at Wesley's feet. "Yip?" he tried hopefully.

Oh, god. The ball had been a mistake, hadn't it? Wesley looked longingly back at his list.

Although... he could use a break from it every once in a while, right?

Wearily, but with a smile starting to stretch across his face, he took the ball and threw it again, this time further across the room.

The ball had totally been a mistake. Alex scampered after it, captured it, and proudly brought it back to Wesley. Again?

Okay, fine, again. But this time Wesley faked one way before tossing the ball in the other direction. Ha.

Hey, wait, what--oh it was over there. Mean. Alex retrieved it, extremely proud of himself for figuring out Wesley's clever ruse. Ha. He was clearly awesome.

Oh, yes, Alex was a real canine genius over here. Someone should give him a medal. Wesley reached for the ball again. Hmm... where should he throw it this time? There were all sorts of tiny enclosed spaces...

Eventually the puppy's big, cute eyes won him over, and he tossed it right into the middle of the room. Sucker.

YAY! Alex chased the ball down and brought it back.

He could do this allllll night. Or until he suddenly was exhausted and flopped over. One of those.
